BMW E28 5-Series 528e 1982-1986 + early 1987 Throttle Position Sensor Design Difference

If you like, you can skip directly to where you can buy this part.

There is a design difference between the throttle position sensor for BMW 528e cars made before vs. after March of 1987. I don’t know on which side of the fence cars made in March of 1987 go, sorry. I suspect the most precise approach is to go by VIN but I don’t know what the cut-off is.

The 528e has the M20 engine. The throttle position sensor is different for the M30 engine, as used in the 533i and 535i.
